Delegates at a recent international conference were so moved by a local dance group's performance that they spontaneously gave them R10 000.

The Amaphiko Township Dancers performed at a gala dinner on Tuesday for delegates to the Organisation Design and Management conference at Rhodes University. Their audience gave them a standing ovation – but wanted to give them more, so they reached for their wallets and collected R5 000 for the dancers.

Then the President of the International Ergonomics Association, Andy Imada, and their treasurer Klaus Zink wrote out a cheque for the group, also for R5 000.

The conference was to discuss ways in which the working environment can be improved by finding a balance between the person and their surroundings.
