A leading choir from the United Kingdom, Hereford Cathedral Choir, will be in Grahamstown next weekend to perform a concert and lead the singing at a service of worship. The Cathedral will be hosting this choir of men and boys.

The Hereford Cathedral choir will give a concert at 7.30pm on Saturday 30 October, which will include music by such well-known composers as Bach, Mendelssohn and William Walton, as well as a number of movements from Faure's Requiem. Tickets are available for R65 at the door (R35 for children and pensioners.)

On the following morning, Sunday 31 October, the Hereford choristers will join the Cathedral's own choir in leading the worship at the 9.30am Sung Eucharist. The Mass setting will be Haydn's Little Organ Mass. There has been a choir at Hereford Cathedral for more than seven centuries. The 18 boy choristers are joined by adult men (lay clerks), some of them full-time.

The choir sings eight choral services each week during term-time, as well as giving concerts and making recordings. The choir has been touring South Africa since last Saturday, 23 October, singing at services and concerts in Cape Town, George and Port Elizabeth. Grahamstown is the last destination on the choir's itinerary.
