THE Bathurst Community Police Forum (CPF) are faced with several complaints from the public concerning
the presence of stray animals on public roadways and urban residential areas.

This has been an ongoing problem for the community and continued complaints have been filed concerning the issue.

The community’s concerns are based on traffic safety where stray livestock cause of accidents and where they may be destructive to property.

The persistence barking of dogs at night due to the presence of cattle is also disruptive to the local community.

The Bathhurst Community Police Forum and Police Service have declared the issue “reckless and irresponsible farming” and argues that the causes of the problem are poor maintenance of holding facilities and “the misconception that urban farming in residential areas is the global norm.”

Together the Bathurst CPF and SAPF conclude that the presence of stray animals is unacceptable and they have adopted an initiative to place irresponsible and reckless farming at the top of service authorities’ agendas.

They hope to secure a communication channel for feedback from the public that represents “harmony, safety and security in communities.”
