Makana Municipality will on Friday finally reveal its much anticipated new logo to the community, which will become effective as of 26 February.

The new logo will be revealed during the opening of the council at the Recreation Hall.

Municipal spokesperson Thandy Matebese said the new look shows Makana as Africa’s Festival capital.

“It will move away from being associated with game reserves. It will make an indelible mark to potential investors and tourists. We want to stand out. The colours are  beautiful and catchy,” he said.

The process began in 2007 when researchers conducted a public participation process by interviewing businesses and households in Grahamstown and surrounding areas.
