The St Andrew’s College 1st cricket side traveled to Port Elizabeth on Saturday to play a 50 over fixture against Grey High School.
Very cloudy conditions and a green pitch meant it would most probably not be a match for high scores. St Andrew’s captain, Ryan Dugmore, won the toss and elected to field hoping the weather would clear as the day progressed.

A good opening spell by Dale Austin got St Andrew’s off to a good start, but unfortunately pressure was not maintained from both ends.
Grey batted slowly but kept wickets in hand with the score at 77 for 3 after 25 overs. St Andrew’s put pressure on after the break with Grey falling to 97 for 7, with Grant Macdonald ending with figures of 10 overs, three wickets for 19 runs.
St Andrew’s could not capitalise on the chance to finish off Grey’s innings and let it slip so Grey finally reached 160 for 9 after their 50 overs.
After the lunch break, the St Andrew’s batsmen did not take to the conditions and the top order crumbled with St Andrew’s being only two runs for three wickets after three overs.
Greg Risely on debut made a good 29 before being bowled out but managed to build a good partnership with Ryan Dugmore who was eventually out, caught behind for 42.
The rest of the batsman did not show much patience and despite only needing to go at three runs per over St Andrew’s batsmen were all out for 120 after 32 overs.
