Residents of the coloured township will soon be able to use computers and surf the Internet at their Community Library.

Residents of the coloured township will soon be able to use computers and surf the Internet at their Community Library.

Assistant director of library services Patricia Vubela said the regional government and the Department of Arts and Culture plan to provide computers and Internet to libraries for public usage.
Librarian Melanie Daniels said the library was initially promised six computers but only three were delivered and only three Internet ports were installed. However, Daniels believes that the few computers provided will be enough until the public gets used to using them.
Vubela said the librarians will receive training in order to assist those that may need help with computer literacy.
"The community will be helped a lot by this. We don’t have Internet cafés around here so it will help many people, like those that want to compile their CVs," Daniels said.
Vubela said the department is not certain of the exact date that the computers will be up and running. She said the public should be assured that the computers and Internet services at the Community Library and possibly even the Fingo Village Library will be available soon.
Currently the library is waiting for technicians to come and install cupboards and make relevant connections so operations can begin.
