"I am hurt and feeling pain, it’s almost two months now and I still have no idea where my daughter is," said Margaret Davids, the worried mother of China from Alicedale.

Four-year-old China was reported missing on 3 June and no traces of her have been found yet. Her mother says, "I left her playing with my neighbour’s child but when I could not see her I became worried and went to look for her." After not finding her daughter, Margaret reported her to the Alicedale police. "The police told me she might still be around the village and that I must look for her. They only came a week after I had reported her missing," she said. China, who is also known as Ntombi Margaret, was searched for all around the village by the police, members of the community and SAPS dog unit but she could not be found. Also residents from the neighbouring Nonzwakazi township assisted in the search. Now police are thinking of extending the search to include Grahamstown in the hope of finding the girl’s relatives who might have information of her whereabouts. "But I do not have any relatives in Grahamstown," Margaret says.

China is the youngest of a family of four and her mother said, "She had not started attending school as she is young." On the afternoon she went missing, she was wearing a navy blue tracksuit, a yellow dress and a red jersey. The police confirmed that the girl has not yet been found. When asked whether she had any hope of finding her daughter again Margaret said, "I cannot answer that because the police are not giving me any hope in the matter. All I know is that I am really hurting and I miss my baby."
