The SA Post Office has warned the public to be on alert of a parcel delivery scam designed to defraud them. In a media release, SAPO described the modus operandi. Members of the public received phone calls by persons alleging to be from the Customs division of the SA Post Office, SAPO said. The South African Police Service (SAPS) said they had learnt with concern of a fake news story based on a document purporting to emanate from the SAPS. The High Court in Grahamstown today, 17 April 2018, ordered the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to, within one week, communicate a decision to a Rhodes University student on his application for financial aid. Njabulo Mavuso, who was represented by the Legal Resources Centre in Grahamstown, applied for NSFAS funding on 16 November 2017. He is a second year commerce student at Rhodes University. A case of Business Burglary was opened for investigation following an incident at a well-known motor parts store in Grahamstown. Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said the suspects entered the premises using a ladder and then cut the zinc sheet open on the roof. An angle grinder was used. “The alarm was broken out of the box and signal disconnected,” Govender said. “Two safes were in the cash office immediately below the point of entry. The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) on Thursday announced the reappointment of three part-time regulator members. In its statement, the regulator confirmed the reappointment for four more years of three Part-Time Regulator Members (PTRMs), namely Jacob Modise (chairperson), Maleho Nkomo (deputy chairperson) and Fungai Sibanda.
