Four men men arrested for illegal hunting appeared in the Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court this week. According to a SAPS statement by Captain Lariane Jonker, the four men, aged between 18 and 40 were arrested just outside Tarkastad in the Karoo, on Sunday. they were found with a porcupine. Tarkastad police stopped a Toyota bakkie and confiscated  two licenced 303 rifles, three Steenbok and a  porcupine, Jomker said. The suspects appeared in the Tarkastad Magistrate’s Court this week, where the case was postponed for further investigation, according to the SAPS statement. The event will include an Obstacle course, BootCamp workout, Indoor rowing, mountain biking and trail running. Police have warned business owners of a proof of payment scam following the arrest of two people who nearly got away with goods worth close to R40 000 last weekend. Two suspects aged 36 and 47 will appear in the Port Alfred Magistrate’s Court early next week following their arrest on the weekend, according to police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender. Roadworks on the National Route N2 from Komgha River to Grahamstown and Keiskamma Pass to Keiskamma River has been completed, the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) said this week. “We are pleased to announce the completion of the resurfacing of 41km of the N2 Section between Komgha River and Grahamstown, the N2 Section 14 from Keiskamma Pass to Keiskamma River,” announced Mbulelo Peterson, SANRAL Southern Region Manager. At 17 years of age, a Grade 11 pupil at Graeme College, Brent Smith of East Cape Shotokan-Ryu made SECKO Championship history by becoming the youngest ever winner of the Men’s Open Black Belt Kata (forms) Category.
