The Makana Local Football Association Metropolitan league is well underway with a number of teams already playing 14 matches. The first round of the Metropolitan league is in its final stages, before the second round matches will take place.

Two Grahamstown residents were held at knifepoint last Friday morning outside Slipstream Sports Bar on New Street.
A soccer tournament was launched in Port Alfred today to help create awareness of the 2010 Fifa World Cup in the district. Zabalaza Sports chief Xolani Gumenge, said the tournament will feature 32 teams drawn from the Cacadu district.
The mayor has warned the Makana council that the current water shortage constitutes an unprecedented crisis in the history of Makana Municipality.
The municipality has denied reports that Grahamstown’s tap water is unsafe to drink. Municipal spokesperson Thandy Matebese said “the water is very safe. It has been proven; I drink it myself ”.
