In what the organisation has termed history making, the Makana Citizens Front (MCF) welcomed two new PR councillors, Lena May and Advocate Paul Mbulelo Notyawa, to its ranks last week.
The two councillors were sworn in, replacing Jane Bradshaw and Jonathan Walton.
Said MCF leader Lungile Mxube: “I wish to thank both Mama Bradshaw and Mr Walton for their hard work and loyalty and wish them all the success they deserve. Mama Jane had to relocate to Johannesburg where she has retired peacefully and Mr Jonathan accepted new employment that requires a lot of travel between Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Northern Cape and we wish him success in his new career.”
Mxube went on to say: “We are pleased to inform the public that Councillor Paul Mbulelo Notyawa is a qualified and practising advocate of the High Court and was in the forefront in bringing in Kabuso forensic investigators. The timing is perfect because MCF is going to closely monitor the SIU/Hawks. If need be, we shall join their case as friends of the court to secure successful prosecution of all criminals that have flooded City Hall and I have full confidence in the current team of MCF PR councillors.”
The organisation says the ‘revitalised’ MCF team has been deployed in various municipal portfolio committees as follows:
- Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Cllr Mxube, Leader of the MCF who also serves in the Municipal Public Accounts Committee, Employment Equity and Skills Training Committee and Local Labour Forum.
- Finance Portfolio Committee, Cllr Philip Machanick, Acting Secretary of MCF who is also the Chief Whip.
- Local Economic Development Portfolio Committee, Cllr Khungeka Mashiane.
- Community and Social Services Portfolio Committee, Cllr Lena May.
- Corporate Services, Advocate Cllr Paul Notyawa. One of his immediate and urgent tasks is to bring the Kabuso Corruption Forensic Report back into the Council agenda and to remove all those who are beneficiaries of the corrupt rot installed by former Mayor Peter and his comrades in the ANC. We shall recover all monies they have stolen and where the National Prosecuting Authority refuses to prosecute these criminals and their political bosses, MCF shall pursue a private prosecution.
Mxube added: “I want to thank our top legal team led by Brin Brody of Wheeldon Rushmere and Cole and our two top advocates, Thomas Miller and Senior Counsel Izak Smuts as well as attorney Juan Jonas. These are the best legal minds ever produced by our beloved city and while the municipality is wasting taxpayers paying Gqeberha lawyers for doing nothing but shifting taxpayer resources to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality, we are recognising local talent.”
Mxube concluded: “We call upon all citizens, residents, communities and business to rally behind the MCF as we fight corruption, bad governance, collapse of the rule of law, nepotism in the allocation of jobs and to expose over 80 ghost workers and thieves who have benefitted from R700-Million that was meant to resolve the great water disaster and crisis.
“Sikhupha amasela – sifaka MCF. Walk with us and Ziyakhala Manje and Sesifikile and uzobona. Watch the space and we shall dissolve corruption.
“We dare not fail you and MCF listens to you, we remain the legitimate voice of the people.”
