After an “open and transparent process” to choose their five proportional representation (PR) councillors on the new Makana Council, the Makana Citizens Front (MCF) has confirmed its choices. The five councillors (along with their contact details) are:

- Phillip Machanick 078 8823918
- Jane Bradshaw 083 5429555
- Kungeka Mashiane 060 6662636
- Jonathan Walton 060 9210809
According to an MCF press release, all candidates were interviewed by Ayanda Kota and Sally Price-Smith, who were not candidates.
When the MCF split from the Makana Independent New Deal (MIND), Jonathan Walton replaced Jock McConnachie in the top five.
The candidates were introduced at Soccer City.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has also introduced its new councillors.
The DA Facebook post reported that while the party had “suffered some setbacks electorally” it was pleased to hold onto Wards 4 and 8, and believed the new councillors would “act decisively to deliver services”.
The party is “looking forward to working with the new players on Council,” the post said.
