The Department of Music and Musicology regrets to announce that the performance on 8 November 2020 will no longer be open to the public due to concern about rising Covid infections on campus. The concert was to have taken place in the Rhodes Chapel and tickets which have been sold already will be refunded. Please contact Ms Mnyobe 046 6038490 or v.mnyobe@ru.ac.za if you would like a refund. Should you wish to donate your ticket to our scholarship fund, we would be most grateful.
In this performance, Rhodes University postgraduate and undergraduate students will perform a selection of well known Baroque pieces for soloists and string orchestra.
The Baroque string orchestra comprises 10 players and will be conducted by Free State Symphony Orchestra and Free State Youth Orchestra CEO and Artistic Director Alex Fokkens.
The Rhodes University Chamber Choir, accompanied by a string quartet, will then sing the Chamber Eucharist composed by Rhodes Alumnus Andrew Bethke.
