The people of the Cathedral of St Michael & St George are looking forward to welcoming the community of Makhanda/ Grahamstown to a highlight of the springtime, St George’s Fair. This year it will take place on Saturday 2 November, from 9am to 1pm, in and around St George’s Hall, down the lane on the right hand side of St George’s Chambers.

The Fair spills out of the hall, into the car park, and right down into the pretty Deanery garden behind, where a Kids’ Zone will feature face-painting, a jumping castle, and special stalls to suit little people with very small budgets.

Other favourites are cakes, a bookstall, tombola, boerewors rolls and sosatie rolls, as well as Indian delights, pancakes, a tea garden, a wide variety of plants, sewing and knitting, frozen meats, lovely fresh fruit and veg, pre-used clothing and White Elephant, pictures and cards, and a wine auction.

Don’t forget to bring your scissors and knives to be sharpened. And to forestall any complaints that the event clashes with the rugby World Cup final, a big screen is being installed so you can enjoy that too!
