On Saturday 10 November, the St Andrew’s College First Team cricket side travelled to Pearson High School in Port Elizabeth, and battled against the Pearson spinners. The tough inter-school’s cricket match took place in superb PE conditions, allowing both side to play their best cricket.

St Andrew’s were well placed after 25 overs on 95/2, but Pearson leg spinner, Josh Honey, bowled a superb spell picking up five wickets for 45 runs in his 10 overs. Dylan Wilson made a mature 44 off 56 balls to ensure St Andrew’s posted a 188 run total that the bowlers could work with.

Pearson got off to a slow but steady start in their attempt to chase St Andrew’s target. David Christie made a threatening 40 runs off 64 balls, but the St Andrew’s spinners Nicholas Frances and Chris Poole placed pressure on the home batsmen in the middle overs, reducing Pearson to 104/6 after 32 overs. Off spinner, Nicholas Frances was superb with his 4/26 in 10 overs. St Andrew’s ultimately bowled Pearson out in 44 overs for 146, earning a 42 run victory over their hosts in what was a very tightly contested match.
