A group of 30 top music students from Cape Town’s DF Malan High School is currently touring the Eastern Cape and will be performing popular classical numbers on April 1 at the morning service at Grahamstown Cathedral (11am). They will also give a concert at 4pm in the Cathedral where local talent will join forces with them. Ben Terry (cello), Aidan Reynolds (flute) and Angela Volschenk (voice) will delight the audience with their young talent. The audience is welcome to join in by singing along when the group performs well-known songs from the most popular Broadway musicals. The concert is free of charge.

The wind band is the core of DF Malan High School’s extensive musical programme and has been in existence since 1985 and performs regularly at orchestra festivals, Eisteddfods and public concerts in and around Cape Town.

Since 2014 the wind band has been under the experienced baton of Faan Malan. Faan and Kim Malan are currently developing and directing three orchestras at DF Malan. The wind band is currently touring the Garden Route and Eastern Cape, also performing at concerts in Knysna, Port Elizabeth and Oudtshoorn.
