Splinternuwe Afrikaanse klank

Boon, hoofsanger van die spirituele musiekgroep 2ndLife, se hoendervleismooi rasperstem is die perfekte
pasmaat vir die emosiebelaaide lirieke waaruit hulle werk bestaan. Dié duo verower al plaaslike en
internasionale harte sedert hulle debuut-album, Everything is Possible, in 2011 uitgereik is en beplan om
voort te bou op hierdie sukses met hulle splinternuwe Afrikaanse vrystelling, LEWE.

“Die Afrikaanse mark het baie liedjies oor braaivleis, brandewyn, partytjies, sport en liefdesteleurstellings. Ons wou aan Suid-Afrikaners musiek bied wat gaan oor die dieper dinge in die lewe, soos die hemel, onsekerheid, vrees, lewensvrae, die toekoms, geloof, hoop, ensovoorts. Dis ’n kombinasie van lekkerluister- en geestelike
musiek en kan beskryf word as vitamiene wat geluister word vir die siel,” verklap 2ndLife entoesiasties.

Die eerste enkelsnit, LEWE, is pas vrygestel en is een van daardie liedjies wat jou diep raak wanneer jy dit
vir die eerste keer hoor. Die snit, wat deur die duo self geskryf is, bou voort op die inspirerende wenresep
waarvoor hulle bekendheid verwerf het en sluit ’n mengsel van elektroniese klanke en ander
snaarinstrumente, soos die banjo, mandolien, kitaar, klavier en viool, in.

“Ons skryf emosionele musiek wat pas by die spesifieke tydstip in ons lewens. Tydens my skoonpa se lang siekbed het ons al ons eie emosies, asook syne, probeer vasvang in ons liedjies. LEWE gaan spesifiek oor die vrae en soeke na ons menslike doel op aarde,” sê liedjieskrywer en bestuurder, Liezel Boonzaier. “Alhoewel die woorde baie diep is, is die melodie kommersieel en maklik om na te luister. Die musiek is ook geskryf vir alle ouderdomme, sodat ons ’n wyer mark kan bereik.”

Boon (Gerrit) Boonzaier is van jongs af blootgestel aan musiek, omdat sy ma ’n kranige pianis is. Hy sing al vandat hy vyf jaar oud is en het toe hy sewe was ’n boek geskryf, met die naam Die Singende Seun, wat ’n bewys was van waar sy hart lê. Na skool moes hy kies tussen tennis en musiek en sy passie het op die ou einde geseëvier. Die Pretorianer het Musiek studeer aan die Tshwane University of Technology en tree al professioneel op vandat hy agtien is. Voordat 2ndLife in 2010 gestig is, was hy voorsanger van die suksesvolle groep, Movie 55, wat speeltyd oor radiostasies soos 947, PukFM, East Coast Radio, KovsieFM, UJFM, KFM en vele meer, geniet het.
