Rhodes University’s Office of Equity and Institutional Culture in partnership with students, Makana Municipality, the police and the Department of Health and Social Development, marched against gender based violence earlier this month. The march started at two points – the Drostdy Arch and the Joza Youth Hub, meeting at Fingo Square. The event aimed to raise awareness of gender based violence in our community and nationally, following the many occurrences of GBV reported in the media, the Office said. The march aimed to express the community’s support for the six-point plan put forward by the Minister of Police, with additions and recommendations. Photo: Sue Maclennan
