Just over one week remains before the Medihelp Nelson Mandela Bay Train Race roars into action from Port Elizabeth station at 9am next Sunday (1October) – and time is running out for companies to book their entries.

No late entries will be accepted after 5pm Wednesday ahead of the race pack collection at Love Story on Thursday so interested parties are urged to go online and secure their sports.

This unique biathlon-style relay race against a Metrorail train is open to teams comprising five runners and one mountain bike cyclist and is well supported by Bay companies and organisations, with more than 150 teams already registered.

Zsports Marketing Manager Akhiwe Malinga said: “Not only do events like this go a long way in boosting camaraderie and staff morale, it also gives local companies a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle and give their staff a great way to stay fit and healthy.”

Teams are encouraged to register in one of four categories for next weekend; Corporate, Club, Social, or Schools category with floating trophies and medals up for grabs. The overall winning team of six will each win for themselves a Puma running shoe voucher valued at R2 500 each. Teams are also encouraged to support the nominated event charity, Love Story, by way of donating non-perishable food items.

Online registration takes place on www.trainrace.co.za  with no late or “on the day” entries accepted. All teams are to send a representative to collect their race packs from the Love Story offices in Albany Road next Thursday between 11am and 3pm.
