After some time for reflection, Allister Coetzee’s Springboks will be looking to maintain their momentum in the Rugby Championship when they head for the business part of the competition this weekend.

Despite Argentina’s undoubted competitiveness, they just could not live with the Boks in the opening two matches, but things are set to become far more challenging from now on.

The Boks are at one of their favoured venues in Australia, playing the Wallabies in Perth on Saturday (SS1, 11.40am).

But even with many decrying the strength of Australian rugby, Coetzee’s men will know for sure that there is no easy way to victory against the canny home team.

First, though, Argentina will have a shot at redemption, but nobody will be giving them much chance of success against the All Blacks in New Zealand (SS1, 9am).

The MTN8 soccer competition is also at the sharp end with the semifinals second legs taking place.

Maritzburg United have a handy away goal to play with after a 1-1 draw, but can expect SuperSport United to come out firing on Saturday (SS4, 7.30am, SS10, 8pm).

On Sunday, Wits will be hoping to exploit home-ground advantage to overcome the goal (1-0) they conceded to Cape Town City two weeks ago (SS4, 2.30pm).

Given a rude awakening last week, South Africa’s Pro14 rugby teams will hopefully be a bit better prepared this time. The Cheetahs play the first game of the day against Munster on Saturday (SS1, 6.10pm), followed by the Southern Kings against Connacht (SS1, 8.30pm).

Injuries and upsets have decimated the men’s ranks in the US Open, tennis’s final major of the year. But that has thrown the way open for some interesting match-ups and it should be a humdinger in New York with this weekend’s finals (women on Saturday, SS6, 10pm; men on Sunday, SS6, 10pm).
