Poetry love is in the air with Drama for Life Lover + Another National Performance Poetry Challenge, and will hold regional auditions at Rhodes University.

This year marks the seventh year of Drama for Life Lover + Another National Performance Poetry Challenge and it is coming with a whole new exciting shift. Running since 2010, Lover + Another has grown into a widely recognised national event across several South African universities and surrounding communities.

“A key goal of Lover + Another is to reach as many of the youth as possible and this year we expect to grow our audiences exponentially”, said Bridget van Oerle in a statement from Buz PR.

Drama for Life Lover + Another is an annual poetry-based intervention that engages the youth on the subject of relationships, sexuality and HIV/AIDS. One of the unique aspects of this project is the ability to allow the youth to share thoughts as peers through poetry. HIV/AIDS workshops with Aids Healthcare Foundation, live slams and an online competition are all been lined up to make this project come alive!

The poetry slam competition maintains its structure of having a live and online competition as a way to open up public dialogue about intimate subjects and to make the competition exciting.

Auditions in the Eastern Cape began at the University of Fort Hare earlier this week. Auditions at Rhodes are as follows:

7 September 2017 HIV/Aids Workshop at RA Room First Floor Steve Biko Building

8 September 2017 Poetry Auditions at  RA Room First Floor Steve Biko Building

Auditions were held in Kwa-Zulu Natal in July, while Gauteng’s auditions take place next week.
