The second round of the Steinhoff International FNB Rhodes Internal Rugby League on 1 August saw two of the favourites clash, as Dream claimed a narrow 18-13 win over Heathens.

The win leaves dream as one of only two unbeaten sides in the tournament so far, having beaten Troopers 10-0 in a controversial first round fixture that was called off early. The other, GTN, were awarded a 32-0 walkover in their second round fixture after Makhulu Blues forfeited their second consecutive game.

Troopers, who recovered from their first round loss to beat Founders 10-0, have added flair to the tournament and look set to be one of the teams to watch. Phoenix also recovered from a first round defeat, beating the hill 8-2 in a tightly fought contest.

The Steinhoff XV for the second round is:

    15. Tristan Hermanus (Hill)
    11. Graig Durham (Founders)
    13. Ryan Horne (Dream)
    12. Darren Du Preez (Phoenix)
    11. Sima Nqxesha (Troopers)
    10. Duane Brown (Heathens)
    9. Craig Williams (Phoenix)
    8. Devon Barnard (Dream)
    7. Jono Braans (Dream)
    8. Ivan Marais (Phoenix)
    4. Mark Brooks (Dream)
    4. Kyle George (Hill)
    3. Mwambu Njolombo (Troopers)
    2. Laurens Christie ( Heathens)
    1. Chris Johnson (Phoenix).

The third round games are scheduled to take place on Friday evening, with the fixture list reading as follows:
