Grahamstown trainer, Mfuzo Dyira of Mfuzo Boxing Camp was among a number of boxers and coaches who left for Germany yesterday (1 June).

The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC) sent-off the 10 boxers a technical officer and a coach to Germany, as part of an exchange sport programme, from the East London Airport.

Andile Nduna, media officer for DSRAC said: “The main purpose for sending off these boxers is to expose them to Sport Development trends and competing at an International level”.

The boxers will be taking part in two fight days during the course of their stay, before returning on 12 June.

Mfuzo will be taking part in the International Open Boxing Training Camp in Hannover.

The provincial Government of the Eastern Cape and the Government of the German Federal State of Lower Saxony on 20 October 2015 signed a Joint Declaration of Intent in Bhisho to foster socio-economic development, foreign investment, and cooperation in areas of technology, sport, HIV/AIDS and tourism in their respective Provinces.

This partnership is largely focusing on the International Voluntary Service sports exchange programmes between the landessportbund Niedersachsen and the DSRAC, where athletes, coaches and team officials exchange different techniques and opinions on how to improve competing with each other.
