Govender said police were still investigating what happened to the second person as he was allegedly found in a plastic bag in the CBD.
An eye witness who wanted to remain anonymous said it was at daytime when the body was found.
“The person was a male and police have opened an inquest docket. The person has not been yet identified and we are appealing to the community for assistance in identifying the deceased. We don’t suspect foul play,” said Govender.
In another incident a woman was stabbed to death in Xolani location over the weekend. Govender confirmed the incident and said police have a murder case under investigation. She had no further details.
Outside of Grahamstown, the body of a man was found on a gravel road 5km away from the R72 in the direction of Peddie.
Govender said at around 7.45am on Monday 21 November a school teacher who was on her way to school was alerted to the body by a herdsman.
“She alerted the local SAPS at Moyeni. During the preliminary investigation a second body of a male was discovered a couple of metres from the first body in a nearby bush.
“The victims are males and they both appear to have been shot. The motive for the killing is not known. Experts are still combing the area for clues and exhibits. No arrests have been made,” said Govender.
Govender said on Wednesday 23 November afternoon at approximately 4:45pm police responded to an incident of a shooting at Bell in the Peddie area.
She said it is alleged that a 62-year-old victim was driving towards a gate at his farm.
He stopped to open the gate and while doing so, an unknown male approached him and they allegedly started to fight.
“While this was going on, a second male appeared and at this stage the victim started to run to his bakkie.
“He managed to get in and tried to hide and get out through the passenger side. He was shot in the upper body and died at the scene.
“Both suspects then fled the scene and ran into the nearby bushes. The motive for the killing is unknown. A murder docket has been opened for investigation,” said Govender.
She said the name of the victim will be released once the person has been identified.
