Kingswood College hosted its annual U13 Girls’ Water Polo Festival last weekend. The festival began on Friday, 4 November with matches starting from 3pm.

Kingswood College hosted its annual U13 Girls’ Water Polo Festival last weekend. The festival began on Friday, 4 November with matches starting from 3pm.

The opening games saw Kingswood take on DSG, and Wyverns take on Plettenberg Bay.

The festival continued on Saturday with the action under way from 8.20am with Kingswood up against Collegiate and the Collegiate U13B side facing Plettenberg Bay.

Sunday's action continued until 3.20pm when the last matches were played between Reddam House U12 and Clarendon and on the other side will be Wyverns vs Hudson U13B.

These matches were followed by the prize-giving, scheduled for 3.40pm.

Kingswood hosted the first U13 festival in 2012, when seven teams took part. The festival has grown over the years and will see 13 teams taking part.

Teams taking part included: Pearson Academy, Kingswood U13A, Hudson Park U13A, Stirling, Reddam House U12, Clarendon U13A, Collegiate U13A, DSG, Kingswood Wyverns, Plettenberg Bay Water Polo Club, Hudson Park U13B, Clarendon U13B and Collegiate U13B.

Organiser and head of sport at Kingswood College, Pieter Serfontein said there are no overall winners, due to the “festival format”, adding that the aim of the U13 festival “is to keep promoting water polo for girls at U13 level on a national level and to provide teams with as many games as possible”.
