Three men facing rhino poaching charges abandoned their bail application on Friday at the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court.

They briefly appeared in court and after they indicated their decision to abandon their bail application, the case was postponed for Thursday 6 October.

The three will remain in custody.

The suspects are Forget Ndlovu, 40, who lives in Pacaltsdorp, George, Jabulani Ndlovu, 38, of Cleonie Crescent, Port Elizabeth and Sikhumbuzo Ndlovu, 37, of NU 9, Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.

The men, who according to court documents are not related to each other, were arrested in connection with a poaching incident at the Buckland's Private Game Reserve this year. Forget and Jabulani are not related and are Zimbabwean citizens. Sikhumbuzo is a South African citizen.

They were arrested in Makana Resort on the outskirts of Grahamstown after being found in possession of a 72cm rhino horn valued at approximately R1.2 million.

Police reported that the men were also found with one darting rifle, saws and knives, drugs used to dart animals, various darts and percussion caps, a variety of camping gear and rations, several cellphones and two rental vehicles.

At the time of their arrest, Eastern Cape police spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci said the men could possibly be linked to 10 rhino poaching incidents in the Eastern Cape, as well as Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal.
