Three people died after they were knocked by a private ambulance near Port Alfred on Wednesday.
Port Alfred police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said two victims died immediately at the scene and the third died in hospital.
"The fatal accident happened at approximately 6:45am on the R67 near Port Alfred."
The ambulance driver only sustained minor injuries. Govender said details of the incident were unclear and will be investigated.
She said a case of culpable homicide was under investigation.
