On Saturday, people of various ages and from vastly different backgrounds came together at Nombulelo secondary school for the Joza Karate Club Inter-Club tournament.

Mzwandile Matebese, a sensei for the Joza Karate Club, hailed the spirit on the day. He said: “This means a lot (to the community)… They enjoy themselves.

Most of our kids in the townships are involved in lots of big things – trouble like drugs and alcohol. Look, these kids are here on Saturday, on a rainy day."

Matebese also thanked parents who showed up to support, and hailed his club for its progress since he founded it in 2004.
