The case of the man who allegedly murdered a Grahamstown police officer was postponed to Friday 19 August at the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The alleged murderer was supposed to apply for a bail application but he abandoned this. His appearance date was then moved.
Grahamstown police spokesperson Captain Luvuyo Mjekula said police were also investigating further evidence in the case.
A source at the court said there was a high possibility that the case would be moved to the Regional Court. The alleged murderer is expected to plead on Friday.
The man allegedly attacked and stabbed to death 48-year-old Warrant Officer Alby Julius on Saturday morning, 6 August in Sun City.
Julius was found dead with multiple stab wounds in bushes near Sun City in north-east Grahamstown.
Mjekula said the motive for the murder forms part of the investigation and the police did not wish to speculate.
Around 50 people from Sun City, Hooggenoeg and Ghost Town stood outside the court in support of the Julius family.
