Grant Daly of Port Elizabeth was crowned the Pennypinchers Grahamstown to Sea (G2C) 58km mountain bike race on Sunday.

Grant Daly of Port Elizabeth was crowned the Pennypinchers Grahamstown to Sea (G2C) 58km mountain bike race on Sunday.

The event started in Grahamstown and ended at the Rosehill Mall in Port Alfred.

The fourth annual event saw 342 finishers, with dozens of Grahamstown residents taking part.

First local cyclist home was Lloyd Vos who was also the first junior home. Daly finished in 1 hour 53 minutes and 21 seconds, just one second ahead of Vos.

Women’s winners was Ingrid Brown in 2:10:32. Gemma Meaton was the first local woman home in 2:17:16, picking up the first sub-vet prize as well.

The G2C coincided with the final day of festival, and riders were treated to near perfect weather conditions.
