Former Springbok prop and current Eastern Province Currie Cup coach Robbie Kempson has tipped St Andrews captain and tighthead prop Sazi Sandi as a potential star on the rise.

Former Springbok prop and current Eastern Province Currie Cup coach Robbie Kempson has tipped St Andrews captain and tighthead prop Sazi Sandi as a potential star on the rise.

Speaking to Nick Mallet and Owen Nkumane on the Super Sport talk show TMO 2nd Half, Kempson discussed the nationwide shortage of quality tighthead props and mentioned Sandi as a massive talent commenting "potentially going forward he could be a sensational tighthead prop."

Kempson who was born in the Eastern Cape played a total 37 tests for South Africa and, as a tighthead prop himself, the Eastern Province coach knows what to look for in a young front ranker.

Sandi scored a try  for the Eastern Province Country District team on day two of the 2016 Coca Cola Craven Week where he played alongside fellow St Andrews team mates Timothy Bloem and Matthew More where they went down to the Leopards 26-24.

Kingswood College also had players on display as captain Olehile Losaba started the match with Sibabalwe Mzanyawa and Athi Halom whilst Thembinkosi Mangwana, Ewan Pieters and Lutho Nomoyi started on the bench.

Despite Eastern Province CD losing the match the Grahamstown players impressed with More and Halom joining Sandi on the try scorers list in what was a closely fought match that saw a then 14 man Leopards side defend an onslaught of EP attacks at the end to clinch victory.

Eastern Province CD will be in action again on Wednesday 13 July where they face SWD at 8:35. Follow @GrocottsSport for more!
