Kingswood College completed a Bishops Independent Rugby School Festival clean sweep on Wednesday, winning their third and final game in style. After a tightly fought first half, they outlasted hosts Bishops Diocesan College to beat them 34-24.

The hosts drew first blood through a converted try, but Kingswood captain and flanker Ollie Losaba led from the front and hit back with one of his own. Fly-half Weston Potgieter converted.

Potgieter soon put Kingswood ahead with a penalty, but Bishops hit back with an unconverted try.

Not to be perturbed, Kingswood edged in front again. Siba Mzanywa found his way through the Bishops defence and dotted down for a try. Once again, Potgieter converted.

On the stroke of half-time, Bishops levelled the score through an unconverted try – setting up an intriguing half to finish off the festival.

Lock Mark Mutuku broke the deadlock in the second half, scoring a try, which Potgieter converted.

It didn't take long before Kingswood scored again – this time through Esona Mrwetyana. For the first time in the game, Potgieter missed his conversion attempt.

Bishops hit back with a try late on to set up a mouthwatering closing stage of the game. This was followed by a scrappy period of play from both sides, with posession changing hands several times.

Eventually, full-back Athi Halom rounded off the win in style, sidestepping his way through the Bishops defence for a try – which Potgieter failed to convert.

Nevertheless, Kingswood finished the festival as one of only three sides to win all of their games (along with Kearsney and St. Charles) – cementing their status as one of the most dangerous teams in South African schoolboy rugby.
