Coetzee's Springbok reign has got off to a mixed start, with a 26-20 loss to Ireland in his first test, followed by 32-26 and 19-13 wins against the same opponents in Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth respectively.
Speaking outside Grahamstown's new indoor sports centre, Coetzee shared a joke with the press about criticism he has received.
"It's great to be part of the Springbok setup and it's unbelievable to be in that position, because it's not easy. It's a tough job. I know everyone else has their job and they still want to tell me how to do my job," the 53-year-old said.
However, Coetzee insisted that he empathised with critics, and that they had not put him off life as Springbok coach.
"I understand [the criticism] and I live with that, and I'm really enjoying [the job], and I'm looking forward to the Rugby Championship."
The Springboks will begin their Rugby Championship campaign against Argentina in Nelspruit on 20 August.
