Fresh from refereeing in last night's Currie Cup clash between the Bulls and SWD in George, Grahamstown referee Sindile Ngcese will be working as a shadow assistant referee in today's third test between the Springboks and Ireland in Port Elizabeth.

Ngcese – who still referees matches in Grahamstown when he is not on SARU duty – is no stranger to the spotlight.

Last year, he worked as an Assistant Referee at the Cape Town Sevens and took charge of the ABSA U19 A final between Eastern Province and the Bulls.

He is one of three South Africans on the team of officials – along with fellow shadow assistant referees Rodney Boneparte and Dante Rademeyer.

The full refereeing team is:

Ref: Glen Jackson (NZL)

Assistant Refs: Angus Gardner (AUS); Ben Whitehouse (WAL)

TMO: Rowan Kitt (ENG)

Shadow Assistant Refs: Sindile Ngcese; Dante Rademeyer; Rodney Boneparte (all RSA)

*Grocott's Mail will be covering the action live from Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, as Ngcese – and his fellow Grahamstonian, Springbok Coach Allister Coetzee – look to make a mark.
