Staff reporterIt’s going to be quite cool around 7.30am next Tuesday morning – somewhere at the lower end of the 7C-16C predicted for the day.

The sun will be out… later, as will a 17km/h northerly wind.

The reason this matters is that in the middle of winter, 21 June, a bunch of people are going to strip off down to their cozzies and jump into Grey Dam outside Grahamstown.

It’s the annual Polar Plunge and event founder George Euvrard is again encouraging anyone “crazy enough to be sane” to join the Grahamstown tradition as the southern hemisphere starts its journey “into the light” at the winter solstice.

As has now become part of the tradition, PG Glass will be collecting blankets and warm clothing from participants and spectators, which they will distribute to people who need them as part of the PG Cares programme.

The PG Glass team will also give you a cup of hot chocolate to warm you up after your plunge.

The Polar Plunge takes place at 7.30am exactly. Don’t forget to bring warm blankets or clothing as a donation for PG Cares.

Supporters are welcome and are also requested to bring a warm donation.

Call George at 082 921 2690 for more information.
