Rhodes University’s Professor Denis Hughes will be awarded the 2016 International Hydrology Prize of IAHS/WMO/UNESCO: Volker Medal tomorrow, June 15.

The Volker medal is aimed at outstanding applications of hydrological science for the benefit of society at large.

Prof Denis Hughes will be recognised for his outstanding contributions and leadership in the fields of hydrological modelling and water resources assessment, particularly in subSaharan Africa.

He has made substantial contributions to the fields of hydrological modelling, environmental flow requirements of rivers and practical issues of uncertainty quantification in assessments of water resources availability.
