The police have appealed for information from the community following an attack on a Grahamstown policeman's house.

Grahamstown Crime Intelligence officer Captain Milanda Coetzer said the home of local K9 officer Constable Deveron Hoffman was petrol-bombed by unknown assailants at 1.15am on Wednesday 2 March.

The attack failed, as the bottle did not explode.

Hoffman shares his Mkombe Street, Extension 9, home with his fiancee and young baby.

The Joza SAPS detectives under command of Lieutenant-Colonel Seymour have requested assistance from the community in order to trace the attackers.

Hoffman, a well-known and respected member of the Grahamstown Police who has received several accolades for his service to the community, had just gone off-duty when the house was petrol-bombed.

Joza SAPS are investigating a contravention of the Explosives Act which carries a heavy penalty.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Joza Detectives – Captain Riaan Havenga, 082 416 8279
