Rhodes University Vice Chancellor Dr Sizwe Mabizela last week posed for photographs with first-year students who come from Grahamstown high schools in front of the University's Administration Building.

Mabizela encouraged them to work hard towards their goals. "By virtue of being here at Rhodes you have what it takes to succeed. You are not here by mistake. We did not do any particular favours for you.

You worked hard to be here. You are just like any other student at Rhodes University, but many of you had to overcome incredible challenges. We really value that resilience," Mabizela said.
