The Eastern Province side drew their first match on day one of the annual Coca-Cola Khaya Majola under-19 Cricket Week, currently taking place in Port Elizabeth.
The cricket week began on 16 December as two hundred of the top U19 schoolboy cricketers from around the country are in action, with teams representing Cricket South Africa’s 16 provincial unions playing in three formats of the game: timed cricket, 50 overs and T20. Making the EP U19 side from Grahamstown are Anthony Dakin (captain, St Andrews College), Daine Kruger (Kingswood College) and Keenan Vieira (Graeme College). Kingswood staff member Murray Ranger is the EP U18 coach.
On the first day, Eastern Province faced Northern. Batting first EP made 139 all out, with Anthony Dakin making 15 and Keenan Vieira 11. Northerns could only manage 136/6 in the two innings game. The match ended in a draw.
All the matches were played in the time-cricket format, besides the match between Namibia and Limpopo which was a limited overs match (50 overs per side).
The Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week takes place in and around Port Elizabeth from 16-20 December 2015 with the tournament central hub located at Grey High School.
