The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, an annual international awareness-raising campaign, came to an end today (Thursday 10 December).  

The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children, an annual international awareness-raising campaign, came to an end today (Thursday 10 December).  

Boniswa Goko is the house mother at the Safe House in Grahamstown where women and their children can go if they are being subjected to domestic abuse.

She is also a a domestic violence survivor. As well as looking after those who come to the Safe House, Boniswa and her colleagues visit schools, neighbouring farms and clinics to raise awareness amongst young people about rape and what they should do if they fall victim to rape or other violent attack.

We spoke to her about what she thinks of the campaign and what advice she would give to anyone who is experiencing domestic violence issues.
