Grahamstown police seized dagga worth nearly R500 000 in Phola Park informal settlement on Thursday 12 November.

The haul followed the arrest of a man in his 30s by members of the Joza Crime Prevention Unit and the K9 Unit around midday for possession of dagga.

Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said soon after, the police received information that a consignment of dagga was being kept in a house in Phola Park.

"On arrival they searched several shacks and seized dagga worth nearly R500 000," Govender said.

"No arrests have been made," said Govender.

Phola Park lies in east Grahamstown, between Hooggenoeg and the northern outskirts of Joza.
