Just a week after Orlando Pirates sent their supporters slightly delirious with a PSL win in the South African soccer's great derby, the Soweto giants will be at it again in the Telkom Knockout semifinals on Saturday (SS4, 2pm).

Expect the AmaKhosi to come roaring back because two defeats in a row against their fiercest rivals will not sit well in their camp. Plus, the desire from both sides to stay in the hunt for a trophy should result in another classic.

It is not all about those teams, though, because Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United are just as capable of serving up a fitting second course when they clash later (SS4, 7.30pm).

With the Rugby World Cup hangover just starting, cricket gets a chance to muscle its way onto the screen with several juicy matches in progress.

The Proteas have produced an extraordinary series of performances in India to clinch the Twenty20 and ODI series, but now everyone is hoping they don't wilt in the heat of the test series.

Winning on the sub-continent has eluded the best of teams, but the Proteas' confidence will be high, as long as they can make the transition to a different pace. The first clash started on Thursday and continues this weekend (SS2, 5.30am).

In Australia, the home side will be looking for a bit of payback after the All Blacks grabbed the rugby glory, but their cross-Tasman rivals won't be lying down. Often considered the poor cousins of the powerful rugby side, the NZ cricketers will be looking for some redemption after being thumped in the World Cup final by the Aussies earlier this year (SS6, 1.45am).

South African boxing referee Stan Christodolou will be the most experienced man in the ring when the International Junior Welterweight bout between Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez and Ruslan Provodnikov takes place in Monte Carlo on Saturday (SS9, 7.30pm). Stan the man started his boxing career in the 1960s and has probably forgotten what the boxers under his charge still have to learn – nonetheless, it should be a fascinating contest on all fronts.
