The Warriors will be backing their pool of local talent in the upcoming Ram Slam T20 competition, starting with a date with the VKB Knights in Cape Town on Sunday, 1 November.

The Warriors will be looking to continue with the form they have displayed in the first half of the Momentum One Day Cup where they are joint top of the log with the Cobras, who will be hosting the first of three double headers when the Ram Slam T20 competition kicks off on Sunday.

Although the Warriors have not been able to sign a marquee player for the competition, Coach Malibongwe Maketa is adamant that the Eastern Cape region is rich in talent that can do well for the Franchise, not only in the Ram Slam T20 competition, but going into the future as well. “Our talent pool in the region is large, and we are very keen on utilizing the guys here.”

“We have had a good start to the season, but like I said before there is still a lot of cricket left to be played in the season so we are just looking to be as consistent as possible.”

The Warriors are looking to improve from their 5th place finish in last year’s competition, where they played 10 games with three wins and six loses eventually finishing on 15 points.

A thirteen man squad has been announced for the first match on Sunday:

Colin Ingram (Captain)

Colin Ackermann

Andrew Birch

Gighan Cloete

Clyde Fortuin

Aya Gqamane

Christiaan Jonker

Sisanda Magala

Lundi Mbane

Jerry Nqolo

Jon-Jon Smuts
