Culture meets politics on Thursday, Heritage Day, when two events co-incide at the Extension 9 Community Hall in Joza. Here's what you need to know:
"Sakhuluntu Cultural Group invites all young people to share their talents in dance, poetry, theatre, music and art at the Annual Heritage Day Youth Festival at the Extension 9 Community Hall in Joza on Thursday, 24 September between 11h00 and 16h00.
Entrance is free but donations towards Sakhuluntu Cultural Group (NPO 142-170) are welcome at the door.
Businesses and individuals are also urged to donate prizes for Festival winners.

To register please send your name/group name and art category to sakhluntu@gmail.com or deliver your entry to Vuyo Booi at 123 Kota Street, Extension 9.

During the event, there will be a mass peaceful protest and a reading of demands by local interest groups. Here are the details:
"Mass Reading of Demands by Makana residents at Extension 9 Community Hall in Joza – organised by the Makana Civil Society Coalition.
Where: Extension 9 Community Hall in Joza
The Makana Civil Society Coalition (MCSC), Unite Against Corruption Campaign and Awethu! Platform for Social Justice will collaborate with the Sakhuluntu Cultural Group for a mass peaceful protest reading of a list of anti-corruption demands.
Marking the beginning of the annual Sakhuluntu Heritage Day Youth Festival, the MCSC and Sakhuluntu Cultural Group invite all residents of Makana to add their voices to a mass reading of a list of demands to be filmed and shared across multiple platforms.
The demands will be shared with government, religious and business leaders as well as all individuals across our community.
