The Pretoria side stayed in second spot, thanks to a great second half against the Xerox Golden Lions. Trailing 17-0 at halftime, the Blue Bulls won 22-20 in an exciting affair.

Third-placed DHL Western Province scored an important away win over the Cell C Sharks in Durban on Saturday 12 September. WP won 21-8 and handed the Durban side their seventh loss of the competition.
