Rhodes University 1st rugby side beat Walter Sisulu University 17-7 in the final sporting event of the 2015 Eastern Cape Intervarsity.

Intervarsity, hosted at Rhodes, saw sporting events taking place across the university campus and beyond from Friday morning.

Also taking part were Nelson Mandela Bay University and University of Fort Hare.

Some of the weekend's results: Netball: Rhodes 1st team lost 21-31 to UFH:

After a gruelling bout of feigned passes and swift footwork, Fort Hare University Women's 1st team emerged victorious over Rhodes University.

Women's Volleyball: Rhodes lost 21-25 to UFH:

Despite being an hour late for the game, University of Fort Hare, buoyed by the cheering of their lively supporters, proceeded to march to victory over Rhodes University.

Fort Hare gained an early lead by winning the first set.

Draw for men and women hockey sides:

It was a frustrating end to a tough day of hockey for Rhodes University Hockey Club at the Eastern Cape Intervarsity tournament: Despite leading 2-0 at one point, Rhodes Men's first team drew 3-3 with NMMU.

The Rhodes Women's 1st team had also played to a draw against NMMU – 1-all this time – after coming from behind in the second half despite dominating most of the attacking play.
