Grahamstown’s Natalie Ross was the second woman home in the annual Oak Cottage KwikSpar Mountain Drive 21km which took place in the city over the past weekend.

Grahamstown’s Natalie Ross was the second woman home in the annual Oak Cottage KwikSpar Mountain Drive 21km which took place in the city over the past weekend.

Ross led up until around the half-way mark in Saturday’s event, winning the Queen of the Mountain award as well, for being the first woman at the highest point of Mountain Drive.

Running in the colours of Rhodes University Athletics Club, Ross finished in 1 hour 35 minutes 11 seconds.

First woman home was Asanda Solani of Port Elizabeth running club, Vukani, in 1:34:20.

First Grahamstown runner home was Basie Boneparte of Albany Road Runners who finished 15th overall in a time of 1:23:29.

Overall winner was top Eastern Province athlete Melikhaya Frans (Tinarha running club) who finished in 1:12:16. Full report in Friday’s edition of Grocott’s Mail.
