    Electricity shutdown Makana Tuesday

    Municipal spokesperson Yoliswa Ramokolo confirmed this afternoon that there is a planned power outage on Tuesday 4 August for routine maintenance.

    Municipal spokesperson Yoliswa Ramokolo confirmed this afternoon that there is a planned power outage on Tuesday 4 August for routine maintenance.

    "The affected areas supplied by Waainek substation were notified last week Friday," Ramokolo said.

    According to an internal circular sent to staff at the Rhodes University campus, the shut-down will affect areas designated City 1 from 8am to 2pm.

    The circular from Rhodes University's Manager: Electrical Services, Shakeel October, reads, "Kindly please be advised that due to the fault experienced last week Makana has informed us that they need to urgently effect repair works on their network which requires an urgent shutdown which will affect all facilities on City 1…"
