The Jumbo Nelson Mandela Bay City Half Marathon, incorporating ASA Championships, hosted the top athletes from around the country.
Lucky Mohale of Central Gauteng raced to victory in a great time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 6 seconds, with fellow provincial athlete Mbongeni Nxazozo second in 1:02:07.
Lusapho April of Border was third in 1:02:14. In the women’s race, winner was Lebo Phalula (Central Gauteng) who finished in 1:11:54.
She was followed home by her twin sister Lebogang in 1:12:18 and Cornelia Joubert (also Central Gauteng) was third in 1:12:37.
Penney was sixth women In the 35 to 39 age category, in a time of 1:32:09, while Banfield was fifth in the 40 to 44 age category in 1:29:23.
While the event was a provincial race, it was also an open event attracting many athletes from around the province as well.
