Grahamstown this week hosted a Level 5 soccer referees course under the South African Football Association/ Sarah Baartman region.

According to Luyanda Papu, SAFA Project Manager: Development Projects, the regional qualification, level 5 course is in line with the SAFA Vision 2022.

Grahamstown this week hosted a Level 5 soccer referees course under the South African Football Association/ Sarah Baartman region.

According to Luyanda Papu, SAFA Project Manager: Development Projects, the regional qualification, level 5 course is in line with the SAFA Vision 2022.

A total of 40 participants attended from the two SAFA regions – SAFA Sarah Baartman and SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay.

The course started on Monday and ends on Sunday (2 August).

It was officially opened by SAFA Provincial Secretary, Isaac Klaas.

Klaas said he was looking forward to the long relationship between the agency and PPC Cement, Eastern Cape Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture for the betterment of of football development in the province.

Since the SAFA Development Agency (SDA) Football Development Project in the Eastern Cape (funded by PPC Cement), which was launched in Nelson Mandela Bay recently, football courses for the development of coaching and administration have been held across the province.

Papu the organisations aim to train “220 administrators – both men and women”.
